Resolving the Princess Problem:
Raising Empowered, Media Literate Girls with Pop Culture Coaching
Dr. Rebecca Hains

Princess culture is full of unhealthy beauty ideals and stereotypes about gender and race that our children are not equipped to handle. What's a concerned parent to do? Rebecca Hains reveals how parents can act as their daughters' pop culture coaches, raising them to see the media's harmful messages from a critical perspective--taking power away from the media and empowering our children, instead. Participants will learn the four steps of pop culture coaching and how to apply these steps to toys, movies, and television shows, and more, with special attention to the princess culture that dominates many young girls' lives.
